At least six miners have been killed in a blast at a coal mine in Balochistan s Marwar field, officials with the provincial Directorate of Mines said.
They were among eight miners trapped about 1,000 feet underground when accumulating methane gas exploded at the coal field in Marwar, the officials added.
“Six bodies have been retrieved by the rescue team from the affected mine this morning,” a senior official of the Directorate of Mines said.
“[The] mine has been closed and an inquiry has been ordered by the Chief Inspector of Mines into the incident.”
South Africa's state utility Eskom said on Friday it would extend scheduled power cuts by two more days, until 2300 local time (2100 GMT) on Sunday, as breakdowns at its Kriel, Medupi and Kendal power stations knocked more generation units offline.
